Falling Into a New Season of MOPS!

Hello Fall of 2022! It's a new season of MOPS! We are excited to get the group back together for a fresh series of meetings, playdates, mom meet-ups, and family nights. We are also super excited to welcome so many newcomers into our beloved mom group.

This new semester started off with a leadership meeting at Anne's house. The leadership team includes Kate Wakefield Spilsbury (Coordinator), Lucy Bravo (Mentor Mom), Khristi Vee (Membership Coordinator), Amber Kearney (Nursey Coordinator), Anne Spencer (Prayer Coordinator), Lynn Marie Marquez (Play Date Coordinator), Brittany Herbst (Moms Nights Coordinator), and Ashley Saoud (Technology Coordinator).

Our MOPS theme this year is "We Go Together," which couldn't be more fitting as we all reemerge and reconnect coming out of COVID lockdown. If togetherness with other Moms is what you crave, togetherness is what MOPS is all about!

Prior to our first meeting of the semester, we held an open house to give new moms the opportunity to come meet members in the group and learn more about MOPS. It was a successful event that allowed us to meet a handful of new moms and support them in joining the squad.

Our kickoff meeting, led by Kate, and gave us the chance to reconnect with each other after the summer break, and to get to know some of the new members better. We played some fun ice breaker games and got to socialize over coffee and breakfast.

The next meeting gave us a chance to roll-up our sleeves in the kitchen and prep some freezer meals for those "I can't even" days. Anne led the charge and set-up 5 recipes for the group to follow. Khristi took the lead on prepping freezer meals for special delivery to Ginny, with love.

September was also marked by a slew of fun playdates, family nights and moms nights. Events this month included a family night at the Cummer, a playdate at Lynn's house (it's a kid's paradise, recommend going to the next one!), playdates at Trinity while we beat the heat, story time at the Murray Hill Library (I hear this once had a cult following, SO much fun!), Clarke House playground, and a mommy and me meet-up for the Kid Cow & Me at Chic-Fil-A.

As we moved into October, the first meeting of the month was centered on honoring the moms who have lost a baby during infancy or pregnancy, led by Lynn. The group shared some of their personal journey's, and then painted rocks for Owensrocksjax.

The following meeting was a Halloween brunch, led by none other than Amber. Amber brought all the fun Halloween themed brunch décor and supplied the group with home-made waffles made in a Halloween waffle iron! The group had fun playing games and talking about plans for the upcoming holiday. (Oct 20)

October was also peppered with a host of fun events. Encanto movie on the Jumbo Shrimp field, playdate at the Zoo, Chronicles of Narnia, Fall Festival Movie Night at Ortega Methodist, Mom's night out at The Garage, more story time at the Murray Hill Library!

Overall, it was a fantastic start to this new season of MOPS with a fabulous group of women. Can't wait to see what the holiday season brings to our group next!

Chasing Joy in 2021

I was thinking I'd be blogging once a month and then all of a sudden, it's January. Please, feel free to take over the blogger roll as I am failing. Let's do a recap. Our first meeting in November was moved to Tillie Fowler Park. Our one and only nursery worker, Carolyn had a COVID scare so she stayed home to be extra cautious. There also happened to be a scheduling error so we took that as a God Moment and moved to the park. We wrote thank you notes and talked about all the things we are grateful for. It was perfect timing headed into the Thanksgiving holiday.  Kate has been awesome at putting together girls nights and hosting them at her home. She even has party cups for us and a neat air filter system in her house to keep the air circulating in these COVID times. After Halloween she hosted a movie night to watch Witches.  Anne has been putting together some play dates. A group went to the beach, Cummer Museum , zoo and the Jax Arboretum in November. There have been a f...

PulseCheck with Ryan

Thanks for such a productive meeting & being so receptive, ladies! ❤️ I got some action shots 💪 I hope Ryan was able to answer your first aid questions & I hope you guys gained some new skills and knowledge ☺️ While he wasn’t able to formally certify us during today’s session (to be certified through the American Heart Association- AHA you have to go through a formal class with testing requirements), he does have his Instagram @PulseCheckCPR where you can contact him to schedule a certification course (if you need CPR/BLS for jobs, babysitting, etc.). He is an AHA instructor. For any medical girlies in our group, he also can do BLS, ACLS, PALS, and other certifications.

Better Moms Make a Better World

"Better Moms Make a Better World" is one of the MOPS tagline. We are all about you, the mom. That's one thing that sets us apart from other moms groups. You come to a meeting, drop your children with Carolyn, then come take a break and fill your soul. We are here to support you, make sure you are getting what you need so you can be your best self when caring for your family. We know you are carrying a lot on your shoulders. We are here to help. Our meeting topics are designed to strengthen your soul and provide you with content to be the best mom you can be. Let us know if you have ideas for topics or speakers. We still have a few spots to fill this year. For our second meeting of the new year, we had 2 meetings in one week. The first was a zoom meeting we tapped into with the St. Marks MOPS. It was a school choice panel. Kelly Risdon spoke about her experience with private school at St. Marks. Laurie Cutlip talked about homeschooling. Charlotte Joyce spoke about Duval co...
